BOM 2026 Was Born

Jessica Bree and I started working together early 2025, bringing her designs to life and to the public with her first published patterns. Jessica Bree has been running a free EPP sew-along for several years via Facebook which is where I “met” her. I loved her fresh modern EPP designs and it just clicked from there.

We had released several patterns and had several more that were almost complete when Jessica brought up doing a Block of the Month. I was instantly game for a BOM. We knew that because of time constraints and life in general we wouldn’t be able to do a traditional BOM with fabric in time for a January 2026 release. As we know from our personal experience as quilters, most of us have stashes we need to work through! Which is why we did not end up doing a full kit with fabric.

Jessica put some designs she had been working on together to form the BOM quilt that would also fit within a 12 month time frame. The quilt features many different shapes and layouts which work perfect for using up scraps of all shapes and sizes.

Even though this pattern is great for using up your stash it is also great for showcasing a line, which is what Jessica and I are both doing. Jessica is using Ruby Star Society’s Hello Alice line, and I am using Ruby Star Society’s Catnap. I had preordered Catnap a few months ago but never had a plan for what to do with the fabric, but when I saw the BOM layout I knew I wanted to use it for this quilt.

I will be sharing photos on here as I go through the BOM blocks and share any tips or tricks along the way. Because I have sewn several of Jessica Bree’s designs I’m very familiar with using larger shapes and how important subunits can be. While this pattern is beginner friendly if you haven’t done EPP with larger shapes it does take a little getting used to. I now prefer the larger shapes because they sew up faster and I can show off bigger prints.
